Summary

After the mind-bending destruction of the Black Barn, our heroes find themselves spread across the multiverse of Gideon Falls that it contained within! While Angie struggles to survive in a 1984 version, Clara is alone in an old west version and Father Fred is a man out of place in the cyberpunk Gideon Falls。 And where Norton landed is anyone's guess。。。 And while these worlds all seem far apart, the Laughing Man is always closer than you think!

Just when you think you've got a handle on what's going on in this story, it twists again。 It's quite remarkable how they manage to keep the reader and the cast so confused about what is going on, while progressing towards an inevitable conclusion。 One more to go! Very strange book that just keeps getting weirder。 I couldn't explain it if I tried (one of the characters says pretty much the same thing)。 And yet, I really like this one。 The combo of artwork and story is just about perfect and you just kind of have to roll with things。 I'm not sure that reading this all in one go would help it make more sense or not, but since it's nearing the end, maybe that would be worth a try? This shit is nuts。All our characters take a trippy foray into the multiverse after they all are forced to fend for themselves, spread out over multiple realities, trying to get back home。 The creators feel like they're really let off the leash here and they let their imagination run even wilder than ever before! Was I supposed to be able to understand what happened? This reminds me of Lost and not in a good way。

All my reviews for this series are basically saying the same thing。 If you have read the previous volumes and enjoyed them, you will continue to enjoy this。 Things are beginning to all come together, and it is very satisfying。 Cannot wait for the end。

This volume is the best since the first one。 The series is the best of this type that I’ve read in a long time。 It would be right at home in the late 90s/early2000s vertigo line。 I want to praise the art specifically on this one。 Sorrentino does some some really interesting, unconventional things that I really like。 The way they highlight details with the red bounding box, use multiple and fragmented panels, and creative layouts is unlike the cookie-cutter approach to layout you find in many con This volume is the best since the first one。 The series is the best of this type that I’ve read in a long time。 It would be right at home in the late 90s/early2000s vertigo line。 I want to praise the art specifically on this one。 Sorrentino does some some really interesting, unconventional things that I really like。 The way they highlight details with the red bounding box, use multiple and fragmented panels, and creative layouts is unlike the cookie-cutter approach to layout you find in many contemporary comics。 It’s nice to see a different-looking page, especially when the storytelling is so good。 Hopefully, they stick the landing。 。。。more

This is the action packed in between book right before the story comes to an end。 And it's great。 Gideon Falls was never about action and splash pages but Sorrentino even makes art pieces of those。 This is the action packed in between book right before the story comes to an end。 And it's great。 Gideon Falls was never about action and splash pages but Sorrentino even makes art pieces of those。 。。。more

The characters felt that the destruction of the Black Barn was a good thing, which they thought was opening for evil。 Yet, they soon learn that danger persists。 With the Black Barn gone the characters now go into a multiverse。 Clara is in the old west, Father Fred is in a cyberpunk Gideon Falls, Angie is in 1984 and Norton has disappeared。 Meanwhile, the Laughing Man is coming for them。This was my favorite of the graphic novels as it explores the dimensions of Gideon Falls and starts to bring ev The characters felt that the destruction of the Black Barn was a good thing, which they thought was opening for evil。 Yet, they soon learn that danger persists。 With the Black Barn gone the characters now go into a multiverse。 Clara is in the old west, Father Fred is in a cyberpunk Gideon Falls, Angie is in 1984 and Norton has disappeared。 Meanwhile, the Laughing Man is coming for them。This was my favorite of the graphic novels as it explores the dimensions of Gideon Falls and starts to bring everything together。 。。。more

It's been a while since I read the last volume, so I was concerned that I would be lost。 I needn't have bothered。 Almost the entire book is spent explaining what has come before, finally putting the pieces together while running our disparate characters through various gauntlets。 And it is all WEIRD。 Lemire's take on the infinite earths is gleefully dark and twisted。 And while this volume puts the pieces together, it doesn't manage to add a whole lot。 It's a brief read, and the art is the real s It's been a while since I read the last volume, so I was concerned that I would be lost。 I needn't have bothered。 Almost the entire book is spent explaining what has come before, finally putting the pieces together while running our disparate characters through various gauntlets。 And it is all WEIRD。 Lemire's take on the infinite earths is gleefully dark and twisted。 And while this volume puts the pieces together, it doesn't manage to add a whole lot。 It's a brief read, and the art is the real star in this volume, with some standout double-page spreads and a good grasp of style and color timing to identify the various realms the characters are moving through。So I'm glad I came back to this volume, but it doesn't feel like there was a whole lot here。 It is just setting the pieces for the final volume, I assume。 。。。more

nope, they should have just ended with the last volume because at this point it’s just overly complicating something that was already complicated in the the first place。

With the multiverse now firmly in play, and the cosmic antagonist's horrible grin now appearing on more and more faces, a lot of focus is lost。 There are still beautifully rendered landscapes, and some of the cities too, though the dystopian metropolis version of the opening issue feels a bit generic。 The layouts still do excellent work, and there's an utterly gorgeous section explaining the metaphysics behind it all。 But fundamentally I care a lot less than I did in the preceding volumes。 With the multiverse now firmly in play, and the cosmic antagonist's horrible grin now appearing on more and more faces, a lot of focus is lost。 There are still beautifully rendered landscapes, and some of the cities too, though the dystopian metropolis version of the opening issue feels a bit generic。 The layouts still do excellent work, and there's an utterly gorgeous section explaining the metaphysics behind it all。 But fundamentally I care a lot less than I did in the preceding volumes。 。。。more

。。 。。。more

Gotta appreciate the remorseless narrative abandonment, the "we'll figure this out later"ness of the direction this took。 And still with the devolution into senseless violence。 Genuinely horrifying, though。 Gotta appreciate the remorseless narrative abandonment, the "we'll figure this out later"ness of the direction this took。 And still with the devolution into senseless violence。 Genuinely horrifying, though。 。。。more

This series hops from mystery to action thriller, nearly tripping over loose shoelaces, but still running as fast as it can through doorway through doorway through doorway。

This takes place after the destruction of the Blackbarn。 Now the evil that was locked inside the barn has been released and the many characters have been spread across the Gideon Falls multi-verse trying to survive the mysterious smiling man and his bugs。Love the artwork and layout of these books just wish I didn't have to wait so long between the publication of each book。 This takes place after the destruction of the Blackbarn。 Now the evil that was locked inside the barn has been released and the many characters have been spread across the Gideon Falls multi-verse trying to survive the mysterious smiling man and his bugs。Love the artwork and layout of these books just wish I didn't have to wait so long between the publication of each book。 。。。more

The bad guy is still super creepy looking but not sure what the heck is going on and it seems like no much happened in this book。。。。

Don't come expecting things to get tied up in a tidy bow。 No longer satisfied with just just travelling through time, Lemire is now taking us on a trip through multiverses of fun。 I don't doubt that we'll get to the destination in time but sometimes I wonder if we're heading in the right direction。 Don't come expecting things to get tied up in a tidy bow。 No longer satisfied with just just travelling through time, Lemire is now taking us on a trip through multiverses of fun。 I don't doubt that we'll get to the destination in time but sometimes I wonder if we're heading in the right direction。 。。。more
